I have Had 2 Pit Bulls and they both have been the best breed I have ever had. They love all people and other animals I have never had a problem with them. I have had several different kind of breeds the Pit Bull is the one for me. Very loyal and loving.
I have a female Pit Bull she a loving family pet. She gets along with my wife and kids. I just saw this aired on the news tonight, I’m for Kauai is there any way I could purchase a t-shirt? I have alot of friends on Kauai who has Pit Bulls.
It’s wonderful that we have so many people NOT in support of this bill. Purchase a shirt and show your support whether here in Hawaii or on the mainland, come to the rally or most important WRITE FAX EMAIL OR CALL your representative!!!If your on the mainland, email the senators and plead with them to say NO to this bill!!!My dogs are my family and I can’t imagine my life without them and i’m sure all of you feel the same way!
I have grown up with the “bully breeds” and am also a PROUD owner of an APBT x Am Staff named Oreo. I love the dog and will not allow ANYONE to take him from me. I started up a petition for Kauai against BSL. If you know anyone on Kauai please have them call me 482-0067 so that I may get their signatures. Also, I will be joining the rest of the pitbull owners and supporters on Feb 8th at the Kauai Humane Society.
My family has a Pitbull and a Jack Russell Terrier and both dogs get along just fine, as a matter of fact they respect each other. Our dogs sleep with us and when we have guest come over to our house our dogs will only jump on them to give them lots of kisses. I don’t think they realize how many people are going to fight this bill not just for Pitbulls but for other breeds as well. Lets put it this way Senator Hanabusa is going to piss off alot of Waianae people with this bill, and i know alot of people on the leeward coast owns American Staff. and American Pitbull Terriers.
will i be able to order a tiny shirt for my puppy pitbull
Kids sizes are available so maybe you could just orde the smallest size? Go to the t-shirt page (link to the right–>) and call one of the contacts listed. They’ll help you out. I think I want to order one for my dog too!
I was a proud owner of a pitbull, while I was living in Hawaii, before I moved to the mainland. I can’t believe anyone would ban this breed. My Buster, was the best dog anyone could ask for….He is just another family member…Is there a way I can sign a petition, even though I am now in Texas? I will be writing letters to the congressman but want to do everything I can to help this cause…..

BSL DOES NOT WORK! It leads to INCREASES in dog attacks, and is thus being repealed in many areas in which it was implemented, or, better yet, not being enacted at all. (Prohibiting chaining does, however, decrease bites by up to 70% in areas where such legislation has passed.) Hawaii already has one of the worst animal welfare records of any state in the US. Can we afford to have this terrible, poorly-thought-out, and barbaric breed ban legislation passed? Why not set a POSITIVE example instead? Our lawmakers and the constituents pushing for BSL need to get educated about pit bulls and animal welfare in general. Start by reading “The Pit Bull Placebo” by Karen Delise. It discusses how the media and politics tarnish a new and different dog breed every decade or so, instead of laying the responsibilty at the feet of bad dog owners. Our Hawaii media is a perfect example of this. Last week, most news outlets reported 3 attacks by pit bulls, one of which was relatively minor, but only ONE source also reported two serious attacks by dogs of other breeds. Another good book is “Fatal Dog Attacks” by Karen Delise. This reveals the “why” behind decades of fatal dog attacks, such as the circumstances of the attack (83% on the dog’s home turf), and the conditions the dogs were kept in. BIG “SURPRISE”– chaining a dog and not neutering him are MUCH better predictors of an attack than breed is!
Our legislators also need to factor in how bad this bill could be for our economy. Given the international nature of the opposition to this bill, it is clearly getting a lot of exposure. How many potential tourists will want to spend their money in a place that slaughters innocent dogs? Given that our hotel occupancy is at a 25+ year low, and the world economy is in the toilet, any negative impact SB79 would have on HI is a BIG impact. Also, consider that pit bulls and pit-type dogs are the most common dog in Hawaii. The amount of commerce generated by their care (food, vet bills, medicines, doggie beds, etc.) is sure to be significant.

#8 Caroline- Current legislation is underway in Texas to abolish the breed there too! You need to get active in your state as well! More info at http://www.bestfriends.org
im from the north shore of oahu and im so against this …i have a blue pitbull and she is so good with everyone and i even have many neighbors around my home that have these animals and all is good everyone makes it seem that just cause of their look and bark its bad its not true they are good animals just like others if they ban these breed they should ban the rest cause it would not be fare everytime i listen to others say that those breeds is no good i just laugh cause not all pits is bad its how their owners make them and its not every pitbulls fault… so people should stop saying that pitbulls are bad cause they aint ….i hope and pray that they dont pass this ….
